Upset that such low trick was used and that both Choyu and Mei Li are about to die, Mao challenges the Masked man. He says that he is Choyu's successor and that the man's revenge is not complete unless he goes up against Mao. The masked man says that he doesn't have time to play around with a mere Super Chef. Mao keeps trying to convince the chef to tell him the next two episodes. Back at Yosen Shuuka, Shilou and Master Luoh are about to move Choyu's ice sculpture inside. The sculpture is directly struck by lightening and shatters to pieces. Luoh says it is a bad sign. Shilou then goes out into the storm and looks for Mao, Choyu, and Mei Li. Mao finally convinces the masked man to continue the battle by doing a perfect job of cutting the lobster blindfolded. Round two tests frying skills. When the first one finishes, the round is over then they taste the finished product. The masked man is confident in his speed. He only needed to complete the sauce but then Mao shouts that he is already done. Mao refuses to try the masked man's dish as it is not complete without the sauce. When the masked man lifts the lid of Mao's dish, he only sees a plain lobster with the middle deep-fried. He doesn't believe Mao's is finished either but finally tastes it. The sauce is
contained inside and 'Liu Mao-hsing's Special Golden Dragon' wins this round. A new deal is made - if Mao wins he gets the antidote, if the masked chef wins Mao must drink a fatal poison.

Shilou is still running around in the rain. We come to the third and final round. Subject: Boiling. Each must make a hot pot using lobster. The masked man brings out dried seafood that has been preserved for 18 years for the broth. We get a glimpse of what happened 16 years ago. The masked man deeply loved a woman named Meika. A cooking contest was held to decide her husband so the masked man entered. The final two were him and his best friend, Choyu. At the beginning of the first round when they are blind-folded, the masked man is poked by a poison-tipped needle that is hidden in his lobster basket. The man blamed Choyu for ruining his life and love. He therefore joined an alternative cooking world to seek revenge. Mao is stumped as any fresh seafood does not stand a chance to the more flavorful preserved seafood. Mao remembers that Fei told him to remember his roots when he is lost. Mao gets his idea and collects various wild vegetables. The masked man knows this is the best idea but boiling so many wild vegetables together will create a bitter liquid. The masked man's 'Sea Dragon Pot' versus Mao's 'Treasure Mountain Flying Dragon Pot'. Who will be the winner? Surprisingly Shilou is brought in to be the judge. He was caught while looking around in the woods. Not knowing whose dish is whose, everyone's fate lies in Shilou's taste buds.

Shilou almost buckles under the pressure. Mao reassures Shilou that the one that tastes better is his. Shilou blindfolds himself and tastes the two. He chooses the black bowl which was actually Mao's. The masked man has a fit and says that it must be a trick. He cannot understand why Mao's dish didn't have the bitter taste. Mao used hot pots out of paper to absorb the liquid - of course he knew about this since he grew up in the mountains. Shilou said both were tasty but there was a huge difference since the main ingredient was lobster. The masked man's dish had too many other strong flavors so the lobster was overpowered. Mao's on the other hand perfectly complimented the lobster, bringing out it's full taste. Crushed and totally defeated, the masked man is in disbelief. Mao and Shilou rush to get the antidote and give it to everyone. When choyu awakens, he punches the masked man. The masked man was Choyu's old friend Lien. Choyu told Lien what really happened. Choyu and Meika loved each other but her father was very strict. He held this cooking contest to test his worth. Choyu was shocked to be competing against Lien. Meika, knowing Lien was strong, was worried that Choyu might not win so she hid a poisonous needle in his basket. Until her dying day Meika regretted this and asked Choyu to apologize if he ever saw Lien. Choyu never told him this because he did not want Lien to think badly of Meika and apologized for the pain it caused him instead. Lien had no idea. Lien collapses, he drank the other poison. As the mansion is mysteriously starting to blow up, Lien talks about the Underground Cooking Society and that they will be after Choyu and Mao. He then asks if Meika lived a satisfying life and then disappears in the flames. Outside both Mao and Choyu swear to never lose to the Underground Society.

The Yosen Shuuka crew has the day off and they are all together, fishing in the wilderness. Luoh starts a contest of who can catch the biggest fish. The prize? A really cool ladle...not! After a lot of silly stuff, Mao, Shilou, and Mei Li go upstream to look for more fish. They accidentally fall down the cliff and get lost. They run into Shell and they fish with him. Shell uses his steel stick. There are more stars on his stick but one that is black - this is from the battle with Mao. Shilou and Mei Li's stomachs start to growl. They cannot eat the fish Shell caught because their muddy smell won't go away for half a day or so. Mao comes up with an idea to cook the fish with the Rape Blossoms (type of flower) they found earlier. They then use heated rocks to get the right temperature. The 'Outdoor Salt Water Dumplings' are done. Shilou decides to go off on his own and smoke some fish. He finds a bag and throws it into the fire so the fish will cook better. Shell rushes over but is too late. The bag had all his travel money in it. When they return, Shilou has to help Shell get his money back by selling siu mai and shrimp dumplings. Shell decides to go out to dinner after a hard day. When he comes back he is attacked
by a dark figure. His steel stick is then taken and he is found
unconscious in front of Yosen Shuka.

Luoh asks Mao to make a Water Buffalo dish for a special guest that is coming. Luoh brings Mao outside to a huge buffalo that will take forever to cut. Both Choyu and Luoh go off somewhere, leaving Mao to prepare the buffalo. Suddenly a mystery person appears and performs the Underground Technique of the "Raging Cattle Pure-Dragon Chop". Mao talks a little about how the technique does not shed a drop of blood and that this is the first time he had seen it. Shilou and Mei Li both wonder how Mao knows about this even though it is from the Underground. Mei Li recognizes the man to be Leon, an old chef of Yosen Shuuka. Leon was a genius chef like Mao who went off on a journey to learn more. Four years later he is still praying for the livestock killed but has a tattoo from the Underground Cooking Society. Leon has changed though. Luoh and Choyu return to find Leon lounging in the Yosen Shuuka kitchen with his feet up on the table. Leon came back because Luoh told him that when he returned from his cooking journey he could inherit the Legendary Cooking Utensil. In an attempt to keep the utensil from getting in the hands of the Underground, Choyu appoints Mao to challenge Leon for it. Off to Daisen Temple for a face-off of knife skills.

Mei Li and Shilou look around for Mao. They find him in the kitchen, getting himself prepared for the competition. Mao talks about his determination to fight this evil Underground Cooking Society who plan to use food to rule the world. During the time they were separated in the beginning of episode 18, Mao had gone to his mother's home town. Though her old house was in ruins, he did find her old
journal. In it she lists various
recipes along with a detailed account of how she battled with the Underground Society. Mei Li is relieved since she originally suspected Mao of having a dark past like Leon. The judges are the four elders of Guangzhou. The main ingredient is Red Sea Bream. They bring out two huge ones that were caught at sunrise. Each is to make four dishes with the fish. Leon uses his
'Seven Star Knives' interchangeably without any pauses. He scales and cuts the fish perfectly. People wonder what Mao will do, especially since he seems to have nothing at all for the knife-cutting contest. Mao uses a steel wire to scale the fish. Soon Shell arrives, bringing Mao's knife. Shell spent all night modifying it. Leon recognizes it to be a Hundred-Hole knife, something only known of in the underground.
